“WALK THIS WAY”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (September 1, 2009) – Washington's All-Pro Running Back Clinton Portis, Eric Finn Custom Clothiers and Becky’s Fund will host “Walk This Way,” a charitable fashion show at the rooftop pool of the Liaison Hotel on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 6 pm. to 10 pm. Becky's Fund is a public charity dedicated to domestic violence awareness and prevention. Clinton Portis and Eric Finn Custom Clothiers have joined forces with Becky’s Fund to put a stop to domestic violence.
“Walk This Way” will be a glamorous event bringing together D.C.’s most elite and influential to city’s first ever over-the-pool runway show and will kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Models include Clinton Portis and other professional athletes, and the event will showcase the impeccable custom clothing of Eric Finn. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be provided for guests during an elegant evening. All proceeds for this event will go to Becky’s Fund and will be used to foster awareness, encourage advocacy, promote activism and create support for those affected by domestic violence.
“The damage caused by domestic violence is too often overlooked. One in three women in America are victims; that’s one in three too many. It’s time to speak out against domestic violence. I am excited to be a part of ‘Walk This Way,’ and proud to be part of the solution,” said Portis, a Washingtonian since 2004.
The Capitol Liaison is an Affinia Hotel and is located near Capitol Hill at 415 New Jersey Avenue, NW. Tickets to “Walk This Way” go on sale tomorrow, September 2, 2009 at www.beckysfund.org, and range from regular admission ($125, including open bar from 6-10 pm), VIP admission ($200, including open bar from 6-10 pm, one bottle of champagne, and VIP access) and VIP Eric Finn admission ($300, including open bar from 6-10 pm, bottle of champagne, VIP access, and a men’s special-pricing custom dress shirt). The first 100 people to purchase a ticket will receive a free gift bag at the event.
“The frequency of violence at the hand of someone you should trust is alarming and is one of the worst betrayals imaginable.” said Matt Landsberg, Founder and President of Eric Finn Custom Clothiers. “Eric Finn Custom Clothiers and our many male clients are pleased to help raise awareness and stop domestic violence by supporting Becky's Fund.”
Becky's Fund is a non-profit organization that aims to foster awareness, encourage advocacy, promote activism and create support for those affected by domestic violence. Since 2006, the Becky’s Fund team has worked hard to introduce innovative ways to educate people of all ages and stations in life about issues concerning domestic violence. To learn more about Becky's Fund, please visit the website at www.beckysfund.org.
“Domestic violence is the number one cause of emergency room visits by women in the United States today. Yet we never talk about this issue unless it is about reacting to a tragedy,” said Becky Lee, Executive Director of Becky’s Fund. "Our community needs to be cognizant of the fact that unless we create a support network for these victims, they have very little options to leave. We must stop blaming these victims and demand accountability for the crime of domestic violence. Our goal at Becky’s Fund is to raise awareness and prevent domestic violence through education, support, referrals, and life skills trainings. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Clinton Portis and Eric Finn Custom Clothiers for this unique event supporting our mission and vision.”
